What's new

Everything that has changed in RetroFC, one version after another. The latest is at the top.

v0.9.24Next match in the header and a matching archive

Current version

The header shows the next scheduled match, the changelog page is born and the historical archive gets the same header as the game and more readable text.

New

  • The header shows the next scheduled match on the right, with day, time and players signed up: one tap opens the event page. On phones it appears in the menu.
  • A "What's new" page with every version of the game, reachable from the "Changelog" link in the footer, next to the version number.

Improvements

  • The historical archive pages (seasons, teams, players) now share the same header as the rest of the game, with the same colours and menus.
  • Text in the historical archive is larger and easier to read: tables, indexes and descriptions.

Fixes

  • The archive header no longer sticks to an old copy kept in your browser after a site update.

v0.9.23Lineups with real player faces

The pitch now shows pixel-art player portraits, the match creation dialogs scroll on small screens and the card reveal starts on its own.

New

  • The lineup pitch shows each player's pixel-art portrait; where we don't have the image yet a dark silhouette appears.

Improvements

  • Swapping two players in your lineup no longer plays the jersey animation: the different faces make the swap obvious.
  • If you don't press "Add to album", after 5 seconds the cards you won fly into the album anyway.
  • The won-cards screen is tuned for phones: full names and a "New card" badge that no longer covers the portrait.

Fixes

  • The dialogs to create a match (play solo, with others, invite friends) now scroll on short screens: the "Start" button is always reachable.
  • The auction table no longer freezes when the computer's first nomination is late: it restarts by itself, no page reload needed.

v0.9.22Cards are revealed at the end of the auction

The "New card" badge stays hidden during the auction; at the end all your cards are revealed and fly into your album.

New

  • At the end of the auction you see every card you collected, with a "New card" badge on the ones you didn't own yet, and watch them fly to your album.

Improvements

  • During the auction the "New card" badge no longer shows, neither on the card in play nor in the player list: it would have given away hints about the mystery season.

v0.9.21Emails for scheduled matches

The "new match" alert reaches everyone, with an easy opt-out, and email preferences live in your profile.

New

  • The "new scheduled match" email goes to all users, with a link to stop receiving it.
  • Email preferences in your profile and in Notifications, plus a "new events" checkbox at sign-up.

Improvements

  • After signing in you return to where you left off.
  • The admin panel shows a toast when a save succeeds or fails, and search lists close after you pick an item.

v0.9.20Historical archive, blog and SEO

The season archive gets richer and faster, and links up with blog articles.

New

  • Player, team and season pages show an "Articles about…" section with the related blog posts.
  • Blog articles include an "Explore the historical stats" section with direct links to the archive.
  • In the archive players get their pixel-art portrait and pages invite you to play that season.
  • The footer and the home page link to the archive of historical seasons.

Improvements

  • The site loads faster: lighter images, lazy-loaded sprites, a 4-column season grid on mobile and safer caching after every update.

Fixes

  • On goalkeeper pages goals are shown as goals conceded.

v0.9.19Interface polish

Home, settings, sign-in and the match screen polished, especially on phones.

Improvements

  • Mobile home: centred title, text and buttons, and the closing block fits the screen.
  • Settings: normal-size text, wider layout, tabs on one row on phones and crests in square tiles.
  • Sign-in and sign-up: fields with correct font and width.
  • Match screen: real matches on the left and fantasy teams on the right, in two columns.
  • Match event icons (goal, assist, goal conceded, cards) are easier to recognise.
  • The home FAQ explains how to play, the modes, the mystery season, remote friends, guests, bots and the captain.

v0.9.18Scheduled matches

You can organise matches at a set time: sign-ups, alerts, reminders and automatic start.

New

  • A home section with scheduled matches: sign up, add the event to your calendar and share it on social media.
  • Anyone can organise a match choosing mode, number of matches, rounds, bench and seasons, just like a league.
  • An alert to everyone for each new match, reminders for those signed up and an automatic start at the set time with at least 4 players.
  • Social preview with title, date and number of players signed up.

v0.9.17Mini-games

Four mini-games to play during matches and earn credits.

New

  • "Who is it?": a portrait lights up, guess the player as fast as you can.
  • "Which season is it?": progressive clues to spot the right year among four.
  • "Higher or lower": two cards, tap the one with the bigger number.
  • Pick which one to play from four tiles; three lives, points for speed and 10 credits for finishing.

v0.9.16The card collection

Every player you win at auction goes into an album organised by season.

New

  • "My cards" page: your album by season, with teams and the cards you're still missing.
  • Won cards go into the album at the end of the auction, when the season is revealed; duplicates are counted.
  • Every public profile has a "Cards" tab showing that player's album (read-only).
  • A home section dedicated to cards and the album, with an interactive sample page.

v0.9.15"Who Wants to Be RetroFC" quiz

A quiz in every match, with lifelines and credits up for grabs for the next auction.

New

  • During a match you can play a 10-question quiz built on real game data, with lifelines and the option to stop and cash out.
  • Credits you win go into your wallet and are spent at the next session's auction.
  • In leagues everyone gets the same questions and sees live notifications and the league ranking.

Improvements

  • In the last session the quiz stays playable "for glory", with no credits at stake.

v0.9.14Invites, guests and remote challenges

Jump in from a link, challenge a friend remotely and share your results.

New

  • Remote challenge: send a link, your friend plays the same season with the same cards and you compare points in a ranking.
  • Anyone arriving from an invite can "Play now" as a guest and save their account later.
  • "Start now with bots" in the lobby and the option to fill the match with CPU opponents.
  • Shareable result cards (round, season, league) and an invitation to bring friends at the right moments.

v0.9.13Free auction and livelier bots

An auction without turns, faster and more frantic, with bots always at the table.

New

  • Free auction: raise at any time with no turns, one shared countdown and an always-available player list.
  • A captain is picked automatically at the end of the auction (for you and the bots) and you can change it any time.
  • In solo challenges you can end the auction right away once your squad is complete: the bots finish theirs on their own.

Improvements

  • Bots are always at the table and react to raises; whoever picked the player gets their own icon.
  • The mystery player is revealed clearly before flying away, and the confetti and card flight are no longer cut short.

v0.9.12The new look

The whole game redesigned: cards become stickers with a pixel-art portrait.

New

  • Every footballer is a sticker with a pixel-art portrait, in a midnight blue, gold and grass look.

Improvements

  • Redesigned home page, classic auction, pack auction, matches, repair market and inner pages.
  • Matches show notifications (goals, challenge) above the header.
  • The repair market now happens on the same stage as the classic auction, picking players on demand.

v0.9.11Sign in with Google

Fast sign-up and sign-in with your Google account.

New

  • "Continue with Google" to sign up and sign in in one tap, with Google One Tap.

Improvements

  • The browser now correctly suggests email and password in the sign-in and sign-up fields.

v0.9.10More responsive, more reliable auctions

Less waiting in auctions, bets notified and an easier way to resume a league.

New

  • A banner tells you if you won or lost your bets at the end of each round.
  • A "Keep playing" button in the header resumes a league that isn't finished.
  • Discord icon in the footer.

Improvements

  • Whoever bids, nominates or picks sees the effect immediately, without waiting for other players.

Fixes

  • The countdown for picking a player no longer resets by itself.
  • The card no longer vanishes and reappears when a fold ends the auction.
  • Fixed a freeze that could stop navigation inside the game and a wrong redirect for matches already started.

v0.9.09Retro gold look, dark theme only

The site adopts a consistent style: dark theme, retro buttons and gold instead of green.

New

  • The home page features a live match with every match of the round and an interactive pitch in the "Inside the game" section.

Improvements

  • The site is dark-theme only and buttons get the retro hard-shadow style.
  • From green to gold in league creation, profile, friends, settings, sign-in and footer.
  • Blog: thumbnails in lists, gold titles and consistent text sizes for easier reading.

Fixes

  • Pages no longer open already scrolled when you navigate.

v0.9.08Invites, sharing and privacy

Invite friends with a link or an email and manage your data.

New

  • Invite links to a league with a code, and invitations by email.
  • A custom social preview for each league, with an image generated on the fly.
  • Export your data (GDPR) and a button to delete your profile.

Fixes

  • The credit balance no longer counts the cost of market swaps twice.

v0.9.07Accounts, email and support

Safer sign-up, polished emails, an illustrated 404 page and built-in support.

New

  • Sign-up with captcha, terms acceptance, email verification and an optional newsletter opt-in.
  • Support requests and bug reports straight from the site.
  • New app icon (favicon, iOS and PWA icon) and a 404 page with a dedicated illustration.

Improvements

  • Emails look like the site: dark background, compact logo and Italian copy.

Fixes

  • New site versions now show up straight away, without closing every tab.

v0.9.06The RetroFC blog

The blog launches with articles, categories, tags and comments, built for search too.

New

  • A public blog with articles, categories, tags and comments.
  • Social previews for every article and a sitemap for search engines.
  • A title, description and structured data for every public page, to be found more easily in search engines.

v0.9.05Welcome, identity and friends

A guided first visit, new portraits for coach and technical director, and a button to add friends.

New

  • A guided welcome at the auction table with small hints in your first game.
  • A gallery with 10 new portraits for the coach and 10 for the technical director, with Italian names.
  • Add a friend straight from the "At the table" list and invite friends via WhatsApp, Telegram or email.

Improvements

  • The coach now also comments on a starter taking a reserve's place and on substitutions in rival teams.

Fixes

  • Reloading the page several times in a row no longer logs you out.
  • With several players of the same role and team in your squad, the goalkeeper and starter are no longer mixed up.

v0.9.04Clearer live matches

Only players who actually took the pitch count, with clear markers for starters, bench and captain.

New

  • Captain's goal bonus, with a "C" badge on the captain and the bonus shown in the live header.
  • When creating a league you pick the bench: none, short or long.

Improvements

  • Only players who took the pitch count, and a substitute who stays without a rating is worth 0 instead of being replaced.
  • No spoilers during live play: the "on the pitch" state follows the actual eleven and unrated players stay hidden.
  • The Teams panel shows the crest each user picked.

v0.9.03Auction economy and rules

A budget for every auction session and a richer pack of players.

New

  • An auction budget per session, with a controlled way to overspend.

Improvements

  • Every pack holds about 20 more players, giving more choice per role.
  • When time runs out the automatic nomination opens at the role minimum plus 5, not at a percentage of the budget.
  • Sealed-bid auctions last 25 seconds instead of 40 and the mystery player shows up more often.

Fixes

  • Credits can no longer hit 0 and block the auction, and nominations no longer fail silently at the end of the auction or in the repair market.

v0.9.02The new auction table

The classic auction gets a brand-new table, with sounds, animations and a staff that comments.

New

  • New classic-auction layout: a big card, a bidding bar under it and team cards with the highest bid highlighted.
  • Sounds for bids, new cards and folds, plus entrance and award animations for the card.
  • The technical director and the coach comment on the auction; the coach is far less talkative than before.
  • The sealed-bid auction lives inside the card in play and the mystery player is back in the regular raise format.

Improvements

  • The auction adapts to small screens and phones; the repair market uses the same table.
  • "Pass" becomes "Leave" and the pack-opening cards share the look of the ones at auction.

v0.9.01The starting point

The foundation of RetroFC: fantasy football on past seasons, from 1985/86 to 2019/20.

New

  • Auctions in two modes (classic and packs), a repair market and leagues of 2 to 8 players.
  • Historical seasons from 1985/86 to 2002/03 with ratings estimated from match reports, alongside seasons with official ratings.
  • The season of each match stays a mystery until the auction ends.
  • CPU opponents and solo challenges, with the match started and broadcast by the server for every player.
